Overview

The new Global Internal Audit Standards were released on January 9, 2024, and took effect on January 9, 2025. The previous version, known as the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, was released in 2017 and remains approved for use during a one-year transition period. These Standards guide the global practice of internal auditing, are principle-based, and serve as a foundation for evaluating and enhancing the quality of the internal audit function.

At the core of the Standards are 15 guiding principles that facilitate effective internal auditing. Each principle is backed by specific standards that outline requirements, implementation considerations, and examples of evidence demonstrating conformance. Collectively, these elements assist internal auditors in achieving the principles and fulfilling the purpose of internal auditing.

Our five-day training workshop on the Global Internal Audit Standards is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of these standards. The course will cover international standards, including those from the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), and offer practical insights on applying these standards effectively in various organizational contexts.
